Art at the Hult is Not Just on Stage...
Art at the Hult includes a permanent collection on display, as well as work that is architecturally integrated throughout the building. The Hult Center also hosts temporary exhibits, primarily downstairs in the Jacobs Gallery.
One of the remarkable features of the Hult Center is the extent to which visual arts were architecturally integrated and the variety of these works. Ranging from hand-painted tiles in the restrooms to the house curtain in the Silva Concert Hall, works by 30 artists and crafts people were planned and executed in concert with the building construction.
Funding sources for the integrated art and craft included the National Endowment for the Arts, the Oregon Arts Commission, private donors through Eugene Arts Foundation, and .5% of the construction budget. The permanent art collection was funded by community donors, .5% of the construction budget, and purchases by the Eugene Celebration.
